Place the Oil Candle on a level surface before filling or lighting.
Remove the wick and carefully fill the lamp to approximately 3/4 full using the funnel provided. This level should be maintained each time the lamp is lit to ensure a good flame.
Replace the wick and allow a few minutes for the oil to soak the wick the first time it is used.
After use, extinguish the flame by simply blowing out or use a snuffer.
Do not use your fingers as you may burn yourself on hot glass.
Allow a few minutes for the wick holder to cool down before handling. The wick is made of fibreglass, fully enclosed in the same durable glass as the lamp itself. It is designed so that it will not wear out and has been set for optimum burning. If, however; should require adjustment, and the flame is either too high and smoking, or too small after several minutes of burning, adjust the wick material slightly, lower if the wick is smoking, or higher if the flame is small after a few minutes of burning. The optimum burning set up is approximately 1mm of the wick material protruding from the top of the wick holder.
If the wick is carbonised, (all black at the top),the wick material has stuck to the glass, and you still require to adjust the wick, carefully use a pin to release it. If the wick cannot be adjusted by hand, use a piece of wire or a long pin.
On larger lamps e.g. Wall Chandelier, do not allow the oil level to go lower than four inches (100mm) from the top of the reservoir.

Precautions: Use only labelled Pure Lamp Oil. It is smokeless, odourless and its flashpoint exceeds British Safety Standards. If in doubt, seek verification before purchasing oil.

• DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FILL WHILE ALIGHT, DO NOT USE METHYLATED SPIRITS, PETROL, COOKING OILS OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN SPECIFIED LAMP OIL FOR INDOOR USE.
• NEVER PLACE NEAR FLAMMABLE MATERIALS E.G. CURTAINS
• DO NOT PLACE IN A DIRECT DRAFT, AS THIS MAY CAUSE SMOKING, OR PLACE ON TOP OF ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES, E.G. TELEVISIONS, STEREOS ETC.
• ALWAYS WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY AFTER USING LAMP OIL AS INGESTION MAY LEAD TO LUNG FAILURE OR CHEMICAL PNEUMONIA-ESPECIALLY IN SMALL CHILDREN
